Qatar vows to work with Biden admin until 'last minute' for Gaza ceasefire
Qatari officials will work with United States President Joe Biden's administration "until the last minute" of its mandate to reach a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal, Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said at a press conference on Tuesday.
"We do not foresee any negative outcome of the elections on the mediation process itself. We believe that we are dealing with institutions, and in a country like the United States, institutions are invested in finding a solution to this crisis," the spokesman stressed.
Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza on October 7, 2023, senior US officials and President Joe Biden personally have worked jointly with Qatar as mediators in the process of negotiating a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages held by Hamas.
