Italian producer prices up by 4.4% in January

Producer Price Index (PPI) in Italy jumped by 4.4% in January 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, the country's National Institute of Statistics (Istat) revealed in a report on Monday. On a monthly basis, the figure rose by 1.6%.

The biggest contributor to the year-on-year rise was the wood, paper, and printing industry, which grew 7% in the euro area, while coke and refined petroleum products rose by 6.7% in the Eurozone. Meanwhile, the largest decrease was registered in the rubber and plastic articles, and other non-metallic mineral processing products, with the prices sliding 1.5% in the euro area.

In the November 2024-January 2025 quarter, producer prices surged by 2.5% compared to the previous three-month period.
