The Chinese Embassy in Nepal advised its citizens on Thursday to avoid the Nepal-India border due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Citing increased security measures, the embassy noted that Nepal increased up patrols, checkpoints, and joint inspections with Indian forces.

The embassy warned that "the border between Nepal and India is open, and there are few border signs," posing risks of accidental entry. Although Nepal and India allow free movement for their citizens, third-country nationals, including Chinese, must not cross without an Indian visa. Those entering India illegally could face prosecution, "a sentence of 2–8 years in prison and a fine," and limited chances for bail. The embassy urged Chinese citizens not to follow local guides blindly and to avoid photographing Indian border facilities.
