Moscow: US must rethink Russia policy before talks
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stressed that Russia's stance on the resumption of strategic stability talks with the United States remains unchanged until Washington demonstrates a tangible improvement in its policy towards Moscow.
"We have consistently stated - and this position remains unchanged - that without clear, verifiable, and real progress in reversing Washington’s profoundly hostile course towards Russia over recent years, we cannot seriously contemplate resuming dialogue on strategic stability, including arms control," Ryabkov said in an interview with International Affairs magazine published on Thursday.
"This position holds. We are not retreating from it. I believe Washington has grasped the clarity of our approach in this area," the official continued, adding that any future negotiations must include US plans to develop the "Golden Dome" missile defense system.
