Meta, Anduril partner on XR products for US Army
Meta Platforms Inc. and Anduril Industries Inc. announced on Thursday that they are partnering to develop integrated extended reality (XR) products aimed at enhancing warfighters' situational awareness and enabling seamless control of autonomous systems in combat environments. The companies stated that the project is privately financed and seeks to help the United States military.
"Meta has spent the last decade building [artificial intelligence] AI and [augmented reality] AR to enable the computing platform of the future," Meta CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg said. "We're proud to partner with Anduril to help bring these technologies to the American servicemembers that protect our interests at home and abroad," he added.
According to the press release, the products will have integrated AR and virtual reality (VR) interfaces that will let soldiers access Anduril's Lattice platform's analytics and "transform how warfighters see, sense, and integrate battlefield information, providing immersive technology solutions that enhance tactical decision-making in combat scenarios."
