Macron: Constructive talks show unity on Ukraine peace push
French President Emmanuel Macron described Thursday's diplomatic talks in Paris as "positive and constructive," emphasizing a "united" push toward ending the war in Ukraine. He said participants shared a clear "desire for peace" and reaffirmed his support for US President Donald Trump's proposal to "end the war in Ukraine as swiftly as possible."
Macron highlighted that this day reflects "a strong European commitment" and a readiness to coordinate closely with Washington. He also noted speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "before and after the meetings" to ensure alignment.
Macron said talks will resume next week in London, adding that he thanked US State Secretary Marco Rubio, Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Head of the Office of the Ukrainian President Andriy Yermak, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov for their contributions.
