Lavrov: Troops from NATO countries 'unacceptable' in Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Tuesday that the deployment of a foreign contingent from NATO countries in Ukraine is unacceptable for Moscow.
"The presence of armed forces from the same NATO countries, even under a different flag - whether the EU flag or national flags - does not change the essence of the matter. This is, of course, unacceptable to us," Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with the United States representatives. He confirmed that this stance had been relayed to the American delegation during the talks in Riyadh.
Several countries, including the United Kingdom and Sweden, have expressed intentions to send their military to Ukraine to guarantee peace once a ceasefire has been reached.
