Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday that Moscow doesn't expect the United States to change its position with regard to Ukraine after US President-elect Donald Trump takes the reins.

Despite expressing the will to have a dialogue with Russia, the incoming administration will not "radically change" its views when it comes to sanctions, Peskov remarked, adding that there's no need to "indulge in excessive expectations."

Yesterday, Scott Bessent, Trump's pick for Treasury secretary, signaled during his confirmation hearing that he is open to imposing further sanctions on Moscow, especially its energy sector, in an effort to end the war in Ukraine.
