German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil said on Monday that Germany did not change its stance on the supply of weapons to Ukraine, opposing Chancellor Friedrich Merz's earlier statement.

"As far as the reach is concerned, I want to say that there is no new agreement that goes beyond what the previous government has done," the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) said at a press conference.

Earlier this month, Merz announced that Germany will supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles, per an agreement with other European partners. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded that Moscow will consider any attack by German Taurus missiles as Berlin's direct participation in hostilities on the side of Kiev.
