Japan's ruling party projected to lose majority in snap election
Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is projected to lose its majority in the lower house of parliament following the snap election held on Sunday, according to NHK and Nikkei Asia.
Despite this setback, the LDP's long-standing coalition partner, Komeito, could be instrumental in determining the final seat count, potentially allowing the two parties to maintain a governing majority together.
Meanwhile, the main opposition party, the Constitutional Democratic Party, is expected to gain seats, as is the Democratic Party for the People.
