The Japanese Jibun Bank Flash Manufacturing PMI Index landed at 49.7 in September, S&P Global's report released on Tuesday showed.

The headline figure landing below the neutral 50 marks a downturn in Japan's manufacturing activity, although the mere 0.1-point increase seen from August to September shows that the state of the sector improved ever so slightly on a monthly basis.
