Japanese Economy Minister Ryosei Akazawa said on Friday that it will be difficult to reach a trade deal with the United States if Washington does not eliminate all tariffs, including those imposed on the auto industry, as well as reciprocal levies.
Speaking at a press conference, Akazawa shared that he held talks with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, adding that all parties agreed to speed up trade discussions ahead of the G7 summit.
However, the minister insisted that Japan will continue to seek a review of tariffs. "Nothing is agreed until everything is agreed," he concluded.
