Annual inflation in Italy rose to 2% in April, up from 1.9% registered in March, the country's National Statistics Office (INE) shared in its preliminary report on Wednesday. The figure was in line with analysts' expectations.

The annual increase was mainly due to growth in regulated energy products, transport services, and unprocessed food.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.2% month over month. Core consumer prices, excluding energy and unprocessed food, rose 2.1% yearly.
