Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Thursday that it killed several Hamas operatives, including a senior security officer called Osama Ghanim, in an airstrike in the humanitarian area in Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip.

"Osama Ghanim played a central role in Hamas' brutal incrimination system, which involved violent interrogations of Gazan residents, severe human rights violations, the suppression of Hamas opponents, and persecution of members of the LGBTQ+ community in the strip," an IDF spokesperson said in the statement on the military's Telegram channel.

According to the statement, the strike was conducted using the Air Force's fighter jets in coordination with the Shin Bet, the Southern Command, and Military Intelligence (Aman). The IDF claimed that it took "extensive measures" to minimize harm to civilians in the area.
