Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba may dissolve the parliament, the National Diet, and seek a snap election if the opposition submits a no-confidence motion, the country's media reported.

According to sources, Ishiba could call for an election even before the no-confidence vote, if submitted, is completed. If the case is filed, he will have ten days to dissolve the parliament.

The report came amid various reports that the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CPD) might submit a no-confidence motion over the government's handling of issues such as inflation and the tariffs imposed by the United States.
