Europe opens higher with UN General Assembly in focus
Major European markets opened with gains on Tuesday ahead of the start of the general debate at the United Nations General Assembly, where United States President Joe Biden is set to deliver a speech later in the day. Investors also kept a close eye on the escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and awaited German business climate data.
The Euro Stoxx 50 surged 1.26% at 9:05 am CET and the CAC 40 surged 1.34% at 9:00 am CET, with Kering, whose stock rallied 5.57%, as the best performer on both indexes.
The DAX added 0.39% at 9:04 am CET with Zalando up 2.13%.
The FTSE 100 rose by 0.47% at 9:00 am CET. Antofagasta led the gains as it soared 5.23%.
The euro and the pound both traded flat against the dollar, going for 1.11142 and 1.33525 at 9:03 am CET, respectively.
