The United States suspects that hackers affiliated with the Chinese government have aimed to intercept call and text communications between Eric Trump, the second son of Donald Trump, and Jared Kushner, the former president's son-in-law, CNN reported on Tuesday citing sources.

It is believed that both Trump and Kushner were the victims of China's large-scale cyberattack targeting prominent figures within both the Republican and Democratic parties. Previous reports indicated that the phone data of the Republican presidential candidate, Trump himself, and his running mate, JD Vance, was compromised. Additionally, the hackers reportedly targeted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other officials involved in the Harris-Walz campaign.

The reported hacking comes ahead of presidential elections in the United States, which are set to be held on November 5.
