China warns of regional fallout from Israel-Iran conflict
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun expressed concern on Monday over the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, calling for urgent de-escalation and warning of the risks of a broader regional war.
During a press conference, Guo said Beijing is especially troubled by Israel's attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, which it sees as setting a "dangerous precedent."
He confirmed that China's Foreign Minister had spoken with his counterparts in Iran and Israel, stressing that force cannot bring lasting peace, and that resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiation is essential.
