US chip designer Tenstorrent, backed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, plans to expand into Japan to design advanced semiconductors, Nikkei Asia reported Tuesday.

According to the report, Tenstorrent is considering outsourcing production to Japanese chipmaker Rapidus, which focuses on next-generation semiconductor manufacturing.

The company, led by CEO Jim Keller, a veteran chip designer from Apple and Tesla, recently secured $693 million in funding from Bezos and other investors. The move comes amid growing demand for cutting-edge chips in self-driving vehicles and data centers.
