Chinese automaker BYD announced Friday it will introduce its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in Japan in 2025.
The company also plans to release its Sealion 7 electric crossover in April, with a goal of launching seven to eight models in Japan by 2027.
"At least one new model, including EVs and PHEVs, will be introduced each year to showcase our advanced technologies," said Liu Xueliang, BYD Asia Pacific's general manager, at a business strategy meeting in Tokyo.
