Araghchi: US must decry Israel's op to show goodwill
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged on Sunday the United States to condemn Israel's strikes on his country to show goodwill and continue negotiations.
In a meeting with foreign diplomats in Tehran, Araghchi insisted that the US must have approved Israel's attack before it occurred and dismissed the claims that Washington was not involved in it. Commenting on Iran's response to Israel's operation, Araghchi remarked that "this defense is our response to aggression. If the aggression stops, naturally our responses will also stop."
The minister also interpreted that the attack on Iran's natural-gas condensate field near the border with Qatar as an attempt to escalate the conflict to the entire Middle East. "Dragging the conflict to the Persian Gulf is a strategic mistake, and its aim is to drag the war beyond Iranian territory," he said.
