World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that hospitals in the south of Gaza have three days' worth of fuel left to power the generators. He said one of the three hospitals in the city of Rafah is already no longer functioning "due to the ongoing hostilities in its vicinity" and the wider Israeli operations in Rafah.

Tedros added that border closures are also affecting the delivery of aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Israel said it reopened the Kerem Shalom crossing, although that claim was disputed by Hamas. "The Rafah military operation is further limiting our ability to reach thousands of people who have been living in dire conditions without adequate food, sanitation, health services and security. This must stop now, Tedros said.
