US inflation up from 2.9% to 3% in January

The annual inflation rate in the United States came in at 3.0% in January, slightly up from December's 2.9% and market expectations, the Department of Labor Statistics said in its report published on Wednesday. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.5% month-on-month.
The energy index grew by 1.1% on a monthly basis, and 1.0% on an annual one. The food one increased by 0.4% compared to the previous month, and 1.0% to January 2024.
The core CPI, which excludes food and energy, gained 0.4% month-on-month and 3.3% year-on-year.
